About the photographer

Cyndi Goetcheus Sarfan is a fine art and nature photographer who currenty lives in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, one of the small towns on the glorious sandbar known as the Outer Banks.  As a full-time professional photographer Cyndi shoots a wide variety of subjects but is quite passionate about the world around her Outer Banks home, especially the natural world.

“I have found that I am quite drawn to the color blue, all the different shades found in the ocean and sky.”  Cyndi said in a 2020 interview with the Outer Banks publication Coast OBX.  She is also captivated by “the sweeping sandy landscapes, the dramatic clouds over the ocean, the dark starry skies at night, sunrises over the ocean and sunsets over the sound, the pelicans soaring over waves in long trains, the sanderlings flitting about at the shoreline, the immense numbers of migrating birds in the winter – just to name a few things,” she said.

Cyndi shoots primarily with a variety of Nikon digital cameras and is a member of Nikon Professional Services. She uses Adobe Lightroom for processing her images, favoring a light touch for the most realistic expression of the beauty seen with her naked eye.

Cyndi is a member of the Kill Devil Hills Cooperative Gallery, the Dare County Arts Council, the Chesapeake Bay Art Association and the National Association of Independent Artists.

More of her work can be seen on and her Flickr Pro account which contains  the largest collection of her work.
